Campus can be confusing when you've never been, but once you get your head around it, it's easy as ABC.Hear from students about the best study nooks, tips to get a cheap feed and where to go when you need some help, and look like a local in week 1.Whilst some places on the tour will be tailored to the group, each one will visit each of the key spots so no need to come each day. The tour will require a fair amount of walking, however, our friendly staff can ensure accessible routes are used if required - just let us know!The Social Intensity Scale for this is 4/5 as you will be mingling with and meeting a range of people. Throughout this semester, Curieux (����logo��� student magazine) is hosting a fortnightly get together for readers and contributors. Sometimes it is hard to meet new people, or to find opportunities to practise speaking in English. We wanted to provide a chance to help you with this. Our English Conversation Club is an informal time, not a structured class. In a small group, we talk about a different topic each meeting, with a native English speaker. Improve your English by practising your speaking and listening, and make some new friends along the way! Don't Stop Believin' as You're the One That We Want, yes you heard right, Someone Like You to come sing Karaoke with us over in Building 2 on the 1st of August, but even better yet as your group will come in like a Wrecking Ball having a Good Time through our Karaoke room hire. Head over to Building 2 Level C at your chosen time on the Friday and get ready for the local Karaoke Night but on Campus. You and your group can hire out your very own room while sipping away from drinks at the bar that will be set up as you sing your night away! Room sessions will be available in 1-hour sittings, and you control what songs you sing and queue them all up ready to go. There are six rooms available per session so book in fast but feel free to book for additional hours if you need! A room will cost $40, this includes room hire and the first 6 attendees, after this each participant will cost an additional $5. Please note there is a maximum of 12 people allowed in a room at one time.

Hi, it’s your friend Ben. Hope all's well.  I am celebrating the 20th anniversary Awake is the New Sleep with an Australian tour for September and October. I’m not really a nostalgic person, I prefer to keep pushing forward with new projects and ideas, but this feels weirdly right to me. I’ve done so much touring in the last couple of years, averaging about 100 shows a year, and it's become abundantly clear to me that this album Awake was a really vital part of so many people’s lives and emotional journeys. I’ve chatted to so many people about the wide-eyed exploration and optimism of the record, and how it still seems to find people at the exact right time that they need that kind of energy. It’s an album that seemed to change a lot of lives, including mine. I’m looking forward to facing that, head on, and exploring what these songs mean to me and the audience today, 20 years on. They still feel potent. I’m going to play the whole album in full, with a great band behind me, and tell you some stories about how these tunes came to be. We're doing it 2005 style, no backing tracks, no click tracks, no video screens. Your voice is probably average (at best), and at Pub Choir: we think that’s great!Now in it’s 8th year, Pub Choir is the easiest, funniest, largest music lesson in the world. Created and led by the human rubber band Astrid, be snapped into shape and flicked by her quick humour as she teaches everybody how to make a BRAND NEW PIECE OF ART TOGETHER.What will happen at the show? An entirely improvised, comedy music lesson, where you are the main attraction. Astrid will teach you one song (yep, just the one) in 3-part harmony, and you will do your best to follow her instructions and not to cry.Generally, you should prepare yourself to learn something new and to not be a dickhead in public. Yet questions remain: What does democratic resilience truly entail? And how can it support broader efforts to renew democracy in the face of these challenges?This conference aims to deepen and expand the conversation around democratic resilience by bringing together an international community of scholars and practitioners. We invite contributions that explore innovative theoretical and empirical approaches as well as effective practical strategies for confronting the critical challenges facing democracies today. Topics of interest include--but are not limited to--declining trust in democratic institutions, the resurgence of far-right and anti-democratic actors, various forms of polarisation, violent extremism, and the role of political institutions, democratic innovations, civil society, social movements, and grassroots initiatives in advancing a more resilient democracy.We welcome theoretical, empirical, and practice-oriented papers that engage critically with the concepts of democratic resilience and democratic renewal, including how these are assessed and implemented across diverse contexts.
